Squash the Squeeze
Although I am certain every ECU student is nursing a political hangover from the municipal elections last week, it is important to remember that politics are an all-year, all-day, every-day type of thing. That being said, there was a notable campaign taking place in the North Building of Emily Carr on Monday!
Student Union offered up hot chocolate and kind words in exchange for help with a multi-school endeavor called “Squash the Squeeze”. The goal of this postcard campaign is to flood the inbox of the Minister of Advanced Education and ask their office to deal specifically with issues of student debt, requesting more grants and the lowering of tuition. The campaign also draws attention to the fact that if Universities are better funded the institution can then aid in helping to relieve students of debt.
You may have missed your chance at free hot chocolate, but don’t panic! Head over to http://squashthesqueeze.ca/ to participate online and in the meantime check out these pretty pretty pictures by photographer Olivia Chaber. It will be like you were there.
